Welcome to NovaMods!
It is amazing how often I take light and electricity for granted. It constantly swirling around us, driving our way of life and powering the future. The past twenty years has seen some amazing discoveries but our culture seems to to be forgetting our humble electronic beginnings. Fortunately, in this era of Blackberry’s, iPhones and oversaturated ‘super-technology’, there are many folks who enjoy making the basic electronic connections that are the backbone of our complex devices. It’s empowering to know what a capacitor is, or how to measure resistance. In fact, many will be pleasantly surprised to see how simple it is to create entertaining electronics with just a few basic components.
One of the nice things about learning basic electronics in the midst of advanced technology is that square one can be more interesting than the basic breadboard. NovaMods is an attempt to teach basic electronic concepts using a small iNova keychain flashlight. This flashlight is a great platform to start with because it provides us with a power supply, on/off switch, and some interesting electricity output patterns. To top it off, the case is easy to open and modify!
